Report on February 15 meeting

Posted in Meeting Reports at 11:47 am by mark

February 15’s scheduled episodes were Naruto #12, RahXephon #24, Hikaru no Go #21, Scrapped Princess #10, and Galaxy Angel #24. All were shown as scheduled. Also, at the very end, I showed the first episode of the cute three-minute show Ocha-ken (Tea Dogs).

This was a good meeting, with six club members in attendance beside myself.

Two more episodes of RahXephon remain. There are also two more episodes of the first season of Galaxy Angel, but there are two more seasons already, and a fourth is planned.

Episode summaries follow.

Naruto #12: Naruto is asleep in the woods, having been out all night training, and is found by Haku. We learn about Haku’s past, and how he met Zabusa. The next day, with Naruto still asleep from training, Kakashi and Sakura and Sasuke go to the bridge to protect Tazuna — but find the workers knocked unconscious, and a mist rolls in heralding the arrival of Zabusa and Haku.

RahXephon #24: The forces of Terra and MU continue to clash. The Lilya Litvyak is cleared of all civilians and non-essential personnel; as she is leaving, Megumi shouts to Ayato that she liked him “just a little”, but doesn’t anymore. Ayato and Haruka confess their love for one another. (Don’t look, Austin, they’re kissing!) We learn that Ayato’s mother and Quon are sisters, and somehow Quon’s DNA was used by the Barbem Foundation to create three Orin: Helena, Isshiki, and Dr. Kisaragi. There is a fierce battle, and Ayato boards RahXephon, despite having been warned that he will become something other than human if he does so; he says that he has someone important to protect, and for that reason he will remain himself.

Hikaru no Go #21: The other members of the Go club are shocked to learn that Hikaru wants to become an Insei, because Insei aren’t allowed to participate in amateur tournaments. As they’re talking about it, Kaga shows up, on the run from a teacher. Kaga encourages Hikaru to chase after Touya with all his skill, and suggests that Hikaru play simultaneously against Kaga, Tsutsui, and Mitani to show his strength. Hikaru beats Tsutsui and Mitani, while losing to Kaga; Kaga says that to play so strongly in three games at once shows that Hikaru could be strong enough. The next day, Hikaru and his mother go to the Go institute so Hikaru can take the Insei exam.

Scrapped Princess #10: Shannon, Raquel, and Pacifica, along with a Mauser heretical procurator named Bergens, are in a hidden village led by a mysterious man named Lenard and a woman named Elfitine who claims to be the Scrapped Princess. Lenard turns out to be a disguised Mauser heretical procurator who is trying to destroy this village of Browning worshippers; the siblings, along with Bergens, stop him. Bergens has figured out that Pacifica is the real Scrapped Princess, but promises not to report her to the Mauser church.

Galaxy Angel #24: A being named Kyutaro is trying to destroy humanity by bombarding people with enormous dice. Nomad, whose program was originally in a missile, turns out to have been designed to defeat Kyutaro. He tells the Angels to put him back into the missile to destroy Kyutaro… but at what cost?
